Deutscher Hebammenverband (DHV)
“Children should be born safely!” This is one of the central concerns of the Deutscher Hebammenverband, the largest German midwives’ association with over 20,000 members. The emotional and health well-being of mother and child has a decisive influence on a successful beginning as a new or extended family. How pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period are dealt with in a society is everybody’s business.
As a representation of the interests of employed and freelance midwives, midwifery teachers, scientists, family midwives, midwife-led facilities and midwives-to-be, the DHV wants to help shape a humane birth culture. We want to enable as many women as possible to have a “normal birth”, without technical interventions, but with a lot of human attention, because: It’s all about the beginning!
