The Marie-Schlei-Verein, a non-profit, non-governmental organisation founded in 1984 in memory of the development minister Marie Schlei, focuses on sustainable development and gender justice, wants to contribute to overcoming inequality and empowering women. Women’s education projects in cooperation with partner organisations in Africa, Asia and Latin America are promoted to overcome poverty and underdevelopment. In 2018, we were able to help 1200 women gain professional qualifications and an income. Help for self-help, partnership – not sponsorship, are our cooperation terms. In addition, the Marie Schlei Association participates in national and international conferences and discussions on the sustainability agenda and gender justice. Information and discussions are held on the situation of women in developing countries. Solidarity is needed for their better future!
